Prospectors lose Kareem Lockett to a knee

Gridiron Wire, league desk

Kareem Lockett RB
Prospectors

Prospectors RB Kareem Lockett will miss the rest of the season with a knee. It is the second knee of his career.

13,529 yards over nine seasons. Ninety-one touchdowns. 139 games. He got to 2,095 once. Not this time. Four clubs have had him.

He is thirty-three, out of Apia, Samoa. Around the building he is the one the young players actually ask. The route here: drafted late, on the strength of one game nobody else watched.

Prospectors are 9-7 through seventeen weeks. Solomon Fields is in year eight of it. There is one year left on the deal.

Eats the same breakfast every game day and will not discuss it.

This feature ran in the paper in week 17 of 1985. The rest of the season is there too.
