Lamar Mabry lost for the year to an ankle

Marlene Ostrowski, column

Lamar Mabry WR
Boarhounds

Lamar Mabry is hurt again, and this time it is an ankle and the whole season. It is the second ankle of his career.

Across nine seasons: 12,009 yards from scrimmage, fifty-five touchdowns, 148 games. His best was 1,988. This is not that, yet. He has done it in three buildings.

Thirty, and Ashfork, Arizona before that. He would rather be almost anywhere else on a Tuesday. The route here: drafted late, on the strength of one game nobody else watched.

Boarhounds are 8-5 through fourteen weeks. Oscar Kearse is in year five of it.

Mabry learned to cook properly during a rehab year and now does it for the offensive line.

This feature ran in the paper in week 14 of 1985. The rest of the season is there too.
