Lorenzo Cabrera will not be the same

Marlene Ostrowski, column

Lorenzo Cabrera RB
Hellcats

Lorenzo Cabrera is cleared. That is not the same as recovered. He is 34.6. That is the worst age for this. Somebody will still draft him on name recognition.

The ledger, after eight seasons: 9,962 yards, sixty-nine scores. His best was 2,116. This is not that, yet. For four clubs.

Bitter Lake, Idaho is where he is from. He is thirty-five. Around the building he is popular in a way that does not show up anywhere useful. Nobody planned any of it. He was cut twice before his twenty-fourth birthday.

The club is 8-9. Hakeem Jones is in year seven of it. The contract runs out in the spring.

He collects vinyl and is insufferable about it, and always has.

This feature ran in the paper in week 18 of 1984. The rest of the season is there too.
