Franklin Okonkwo has 91 and a story

Chip Nutbeam, hot take

Franklin Okonkwo WR
Firebrands

Franklin Okonkwo was rugby until he was nineteen, and he tackles like it and just put up 91 YARDS. This is the best thing that has happened all season. He refuses to be taped by anybody but the same assistant trainer, which his teammates have stopped remarking on. It counts the same as anybody else's.

He has 3,989 yards from scrimmage in seven seasons, and thirty-five touchdowns. His best was 1,126. This is not that, yet.

He turned twenty-eight this year. He is from Sable, North Dakota. Ask anybody: he is the one the young players actually ask.

The club is 8-6. Crash Cavanaugh is in year six of it. He is out of contract after this.

This feature ran in the paper in week 15 of 1983. The rest of the season is there too.
