Vance Ellington has 198 and a story

Wendell Sowerbutts, notebook

Vance Ellington QB
Turbines

Vance Ellington had 198 yards. He was the son of a man who played eleven years at the same position. Two of them found the end zone, in game 6 of his season. It counts the same as anybody else's.

The ledger, after six seasons: 6,449 yards, 100 scores. This is the best of them.

Thirty, and Harlow Bend, Louisiana before that. Around the building he is the one the young players actually ask.

Turbines, 2-4, and seven weeks gone. Nolan Fenwick is new. He is out of contract after this.

Ellington has worn the same undershirt since his rookie year and had it repaired twice.

This feature ran in the paper in week 7 of 1982. The rest of the season is there too.
