Four questions for Rhett Loomis

Dez Cruikshank, team beat

Rhett Loomis QB
Roughnecks

In week two I wrote that we would know what this season was shaped like by the time Loomis was eligible again, believing that meant week nine. It was seven games when I wrote it and four when he served it — the appeal took three off — so he was eligible in week six, and the answer has been in the standings for three weeks while I waited on a date that had already gone.

I asked whether week six had felt like coming back.

“We had a game.”

I asked what the room had been like.

“Good. They’ve been good. You’d have to ask them.”

I asked about Corey Mothersbaugh, who caught five of six for eight yards in week nine and scored twice on them.

“He’s in the right place. He puts himself there.” A pause. “Ask him about the margins.”

I asked whether he wanted to say anything about the suspension.

“No. Thank you though.”

Eleven thousand five hundred and forty-five people follow a board he has never posted on. The club is 3-4-1. The Timberjacks — seven seasons, and they let him go at $38 million — come here in week twelve, and I would like it on the record that I intend to ask him about that one too.

This feature ran in the paper in week 9 of 2026. The rest of the season is there too.
