Four hundred and seventy-nine short, and out of contract

Marlene Ostrowski, column

Lorenzo Hobbeson RB
Marauders

Lorenzo Hobbeson's fourteenth season ended in the same 39-13, at eighteen carries for fifty yards and a touchdown. He leaves it second on the all-time rushing list at 18,521 — 479 short of 19,000, 5,262 behind Cormac Loomis, who stopped — and the list counts nothing from the bracket: the 156 yards he ran in three playoff games moved it nowhere.

He is thirty-five, and the one-year $3.4 million is finished. Asked whether that was his last game, he talked about the Mustaches' front for a while and then said, “The spring decides. It has never once asked me.”

I have made two claims about this man and eaten one. The third: somebody signs him before the opening slate of season 51.
