Harrison Neely threw the ball twelve times as the Smelters beat the Millwrights 40-13, completing ten for 151 yards and two touchdowns. It is his fewest throws of the season and the Smelters' widest win of it.
In the four games before it he threw thirty-two, thirty-one, thirty-nine and forty times, and the Smelters lost all four. This time they ran it thirty-two times for 211 yards, more ground than they have gained all year, and five of those carries were his.
The Bighorns threw him 523 times and let him go; the Pikemen threw him 543 and did the same. Here he has thrown it 411 and leads every quarterback in the league in fantasy points, on the third one-year deal of three springs — $66 million, then $63 million, then this $54 million, expiring, the largest such number in the league.
Asked whether twelve was a message, he said: “I've thrown it forty in an afternoon and driven home unhappy. Anybody telling you the number means something is selling you a number.”
In the fourth quarter he took his helmet off, and when the crowd stood up he stood with them and clapped.
