Elmo Mabry finds it, in year 8

Hal Vandergrift, veteran beat

Elmo Mabry RB
Cannoneers

Elmo Mabry was converted from linebacker in his second professional season. Every one of those is a scout who kept his job anyway. Two of them found the end zone, in game 8 of his season. The ones who arrive like this tend to know what it cost. That is usually worth something in December.

17,619 yards over nine seasons. 103 touchdowns. 150 games. His best was 3,158. This is not that, yet.

He turned thirty this year. He is from Tannery Row, Maine. Around the building he keeps his own counsel and his own hours.

The club is 6-2. Garrett Fields II is in year two of it. The contract runs out in the spring.

Has worn the same undershirt since his rookie year and had it repaired twice.
