Keegan Kowalczyk beats the Timberjacks to it

Keegan Kowalczyk had 74 yards against the Timberjacks, who used to employ him. He would rather be almost anywhere else on a Tuesday, so nobody expects him to say much about it. The fixture comes round again next year.

Across fourteen seasons: 27,461 yards from scrimmage, 446 touchdowns, 255 games. There was a 2,607-yard year in there. This is not it. Three clubs have had him.

Thirty-five, and Auckland, New Zealand before that. Nobody planned any of it. He was a track man who was talked into it by a coach who never let go. Before any of it he kept bees.

Anvils are 9-7 through seventeen weeks. Nikolai Jeffries is new. The contract runs out in the spring.

He is the last man off the field, every week, without exception, and always has.
