157 yards, and a road nobody would recommend

I have been doing this long enough to have written off men like C. Pemberton, who was a walk-on at Cutler Bible who did not have a scholarship until his third year. 157 yards is the league's way of saying nothing is settled. He carries a chess set on the road and beats everyone, which his teammates have stopped remarking on. The ones who arrive like this tend to know what it cost. That is usually worth something in December.
