Cormac Pemberton was not supposed to be here

Pikemen

Cormac Pemberton was a walk-on at Cutler Bible who did not have a scholarship until his third year. Every one of those is a scout who kept his job anyway. Out of Cutler Bible, which sends one of these to the league about once a decade. The ones who arrive like this tend to know what it cost. That is usually worth something in December.

He has 1,334 yards from scrimmage in two seasons, and seventeen touchdowns. He has never had a year like it.

Auckland, New Zealand is where he is from. He is twenty-seven. Ask anybody: he keeps his own counsel and his own hours.

Pikemen, 5-8, and fourteen weeks gone. Cole Slaw is in year five of it.

He carries a chess set on the road and beats everyone, and always has.
