Trent Beetlestone lost for the year to a shoulder

Wendell Sowerbutts, notebook

Trent Beetlestone QB
Firebrands

Trent Beetlestone will miss the rest of the season with a shoulder. It is the third time this season he has been on the report.

The ledger, after four seasons: 8,630 yards, 121 scores. His best was 2,335. This is not that, yet. For two clubs.

Memphis, Tennessee is where he is from. He is thirty-five. Around the building he has never been described as easy to coach. He was a first-round pick out of Fort Ridley, and everybody saw it coming.

Firebrands, 11-4, and sixteen weeks gone. Crash Cavanaugh is in year three of it. There is one year left on the deal.

One more thing: he reads on the team plane, actual books, which his teammates find hilarious.

This feature ran in the paper in week 16 of 1980. The rest of the season is there too.
