Curtis Lardner finds it, in year 5

Ruth Fairbanks, features

Curtis Lardner QB
The Toboggans

Curtis Lardner is from Ojo Caliente, New Mexico. He was undrafted out of Dunbar Normal, signed the Tuesday after for the minimum. He is now the best story on this team. He reads on the team plane, actual books, which his teammates find hilarious, which his teammates have stopped remarking on. It is a long way from Ojo Caliente, New Mexico, and he did not come the easy way.

He has 5,118 yards from scrimmage in three seasons, and fifty-two touchdowns. This is the best of them. Two of those shirts belong to somebody else now.

He is twenty-six. He is popular in a way that does not show up anywhere useful.

The Toboggans are 4-1 through five weeks. Andre Lockett is in year four of it.

This feature ran in the paper in week 5 of 2007. The rest of the season is there too.
