The old man can still play

Hal Vandergrift, veteran beat

Julius Vance QB
Sentinels

Julius Vance is 40 and averaging 10.3 a week. He reads Normal, which makes the mileage harder to explain, not easier.

He has 22,695 yards from scrimmage in sixteen seasons, and 320 touchdowns. He got to 2,286 once. Not this time. For six clubs.

Forty, and Bitter Lake, Idaho before that. He is unfailingly polite and completely unknowable. The route here: signed off a practice squad in November and never gave the job back.

The club is 2-12. Hutch Ellington is in year seven of it. There is one year left on the deal.

He learned to cook properly during a rehab year and now does it for the offensive line, and always has.
