Chowder Hamhock finds it, in year 9

Wendell Sowerbutts, notebook

Chowder Hamhock WR
Bighorns

103 yards from a man who was rugby until he was nineteen, and he tackles like it. The scouting industry declines to comment. He learned to cook properly during a rehab year and now does it for the offensive line, which his teammates have stopped remarking on. It counts the same as anybody else's.

The ledger, after twelve seasons: 3,830 yards, twenty scores. He got to 1,030 once. Not this time. Three clubs have had him.

Harlow Bend, Louisiana is where he is from. He is thirty-three. He runs hot, and everybody has decided to live with it. Before any of it he kept bees.

Bighorns are 3-9 through thirteen weeks. Roman Hollister is in year two of it. The contract runs out in the spring.
