139 yards, and a road nobody would recommend

Chip Nutbeam, hot take

Cyrus Thunderpaw QB
Anvils

Cyrus Thunderpaw was drafted on a medical gamble that three clubs would not take and just put up 139 YARDS. This is the best thing that has happened all season. He is 33, and he is unfailingly polite and completely unknowable. It counts the same as anybody else's.

Across twelve seasons: 20,875 yards from scrimmage, 323 touchdowns, 195 games. He got to 2,178 once. Not this time. For two clubs.

He is from Phoenix, Arizona. Before any of it he spent two summers on a crab boat.

Anvils, 5-1, and six weeks gone. Hoot Jessup is in year four of it. The contract runs out in the spring.

He reads on the team plane, actual books, which his teammates find hilarious, and always has.
