Lamar Klopstock beats the Marauders to it

Marlene Ostrowski, column

Lamar Klopstock QB
Pikemen

A club let Lamar Klopstock walk. He gained 126 yards on them. These two facts are being carefully kept apart in the postgame. He is popular in a way that does not show up anywhere useful, so nobody expects him to say much about it. Both clubs will insist there is nothing in it. There is always something in it.

He has 7,225 yards from scrimmage in three seasons, and 115 touchdowns. He got to 3,009 once. Not this time. He has done it in two buildings.

He turned twenty-nine this year. He is from Cork, Ireland. He was drafted late, on the strength of one game nobody else watched.

Pikemen are 6-4 through eleven weeks. Cyrus Vinatieri is in year two of it.

Klopstock has never once been photographed smiling on a sideline.
