Mateo Jones RB
Cannoneers

Mateo Jones returned from an AC joint and put up 20.3 points.

Across six seasons: 4,633 yards from scrimmage, twenty-four touchdowns, ninety-six games. He got to 1,360 once. Not this time. He has done it in two buildings.

He is twenty-seven, out of Muddy Creek, Kentucky. He keeps his own counsel and his own hours. He was a late bloomer who did not start a game until he was a college senior.

Cannoneers, 8-2, and eleven weeks gone. Mike Rowave is in year four of it.

One more thing: he learned to cook properly during a rehab year and now does it for the offensive line.

This feature ran in the paper in week 11 of 2003. The rest of the season is there too.
