Devon Cannonbury QB
Roughnecks

Devon Cannonbury is 39. He has played 268 professional games. He is averaging 17.0 a week and shows no sign of stopping, which is not how this usually goes. He reads Normal, which makes the mileage harder to explain, not easier.

He has 28,683 yards from scrimmage in eighteen seasons, and 436 touchdowns. There was a 3,457-yard year in there. This is not it. Five clubs have had him.

He is thirty-nine, out of Ashfork, Arizona. Around the building he runs hot, and everybody has decided to live with it. Nobody planned any of it. He was signed off a practice squad in November and never gave the job back.

Roughnecks are 3-4 through seven weeks. Mack Truckington is new. The contract runs out in the spring.

One more thing: he will not step on the painted logo at midfield.
