Copperheads without Sterling Lockett again

Ruth Fairbanks, features

Sterling Lockett RB
Copperheads

Sterling Lockett will miss 3 games with a head. He reads Fragile on the card, which is exactly the bet everyone made.

The ledger, after six seasons: 7,981 yards, seventy scores. This is the best of them.

Twenty-five, and Bellwether, Ohio before that. Around the building he has never been described as easy to coach. Nobody planned any of it. He was a late bloomer who did not start a game until he was a college senior.

Copperheads are 1-2-1 through four weeks. Beau Passwater is in year seven of it.

Lockett is the last man off the field, every week, without exception.

This feature ran in the paper in week 4 of 2002. The rest of the season is there too.
