D. Cannonbury to Dexter Callender, again

Chip Nutbeam, hot take

Dexter Callender TE
Roughnecks

D. Cannonbury threw 2 touchdowns to Dexter Callender, who has now caught 18 from him. They have played 9 games together this season alone. It is the simplest thing this offence does and the hardest to stop.

The ledger, after four seasons: 937 yards, eighteen scores. He has never had a year like it.

He turned twenty-seven this year. He is from Reykjavik, Iceland. Ask anybody: he talks constantly and means about half of it. Nobody planned any of it. He was drafted late, on the strength of one game nobody else watched.

Roughnecks, 7-7, and fifteen weeks gone. Mack Truckington is new. There is one year left on the deal.

One more thing: he has never once been photographed smiling on a sideline.

This feature ran in the paper in week 15 of 2002. The rest of the season is there too.
