The Anvils get a good look at Bridger Bradford

Wendell Sowerbutts, notebook

Bridger Bradford QB
Firebrands

Bridger Bradford had 102 yards against the Anvils, who used to employ him. He keeps his own counsel and his own hours, so nobody expects him to say much about it. The fixture comes round again next year.

He has 2,860 yards from scrimmage in eight seasons, and thirty-two touchdowns. His best was 1,583. This is not that, yet. For two clubs.

Apia, Samoa is where he is from. He is thirty-four. The route here: a basketball player until he was twenty, and it still shows.

Firebrands, 6-2, and eight weeks gone. Barney Grit is in year seven of it. He is out of contract after this.

One more thing: he eats the same breakfast every game day and will not discuss it.

This feature ran in the paper in week 8 of 2001. The rest of the season is there too.
