Nightshift lose Zaire Hensley to a knee

Ruth Fairbanks, features

Zaire Hensley RB
Nightshift

Zaire Hensley will miss the rest of the season with a knee. He reads Durable, which is what makes this one feel unlucky rather than inevitable.

He has 7,040 yards from scrimmage in five seasons, and forty-six touchdowns. He got to 2,030 once. Not this time. For two clubs.

Sable, North Dakota is where he is from. He is twenty-six. Around the building he is unfailingly polite and completely unknowable. Nobody planned any of it. He was the second man taken at his position out of Saint Ambrose.

Nightshift, 1-4, and five weeks gone. Meatball Speight is in year fourteen of it.

Hensley has never once been photographed smiling on a sideline.

This feature ran in the paper in week 5 of 1999. The rest of the season is there too.
