Muskox lose Garrett Quirk to an MCL

Marlene Ostrowski, column

Garrett Quirk RB
Muskox

Garrett Quirk is hurt again, and this time it is an MCL and the whole season. It is the second MCL of his career. Draft accordingly.

The ledger, after six seasons: 8,851 yards, fifty-six scores. He got to 2,327 once. Not this time.

He is twenty-eight, out of Cork, Ireland. Around the building he keeps his own counsel and his own hours. Nobody planned any of it. He was found at a regional combine by a scout whose flight had been cancelled.

Muskox, 9-5, and fifteen weeks gone. Elias Larue is in year two of it. There is one year left on the deal.

He refuses to be taped by anybody but the same assistant trainer, and always has.

This feature ran in the paper in week 15 of 1997. The rest of the season is there too.
