Ivan Rowntree had this date circled, whatever he says

Marlene Ostrowski, column

Ivan Rowntree QB
Ironmen

Ivan Rowntree put 85 on the Firebrands, who decided at some point that they could do without him. Everybody is very calm about it. He is 32 now, which was most of the argument at the time. Both clubs will insist there is nothing in it. There is always something in it.

17,637 yards over ten seasons. 312 touchdowns. 168 games. There was a 2,108-yard year in there. This is not it. Two of those shirts belong to somebody else now.

He is from Kestrel, Montana. He says almost nothing and is listened to anyway. Nobody planned any of it. He was drafted late, on the strength of one game nobody else watched.

The club is 6-3. Zane Yarborough is in year four of it.

Refuses to be taped by anybody but the same assistant trainer.
