Yancy Steele picks the right year

Marlene Ostrowski, column

Yancy Steele QB
Bighorns

Yancy Steele is having the best year of his life, entirely coincidentally in the one where his contract expires. 1700 yards at this rate, on 14.9M. He is 35, which is the part the market will argue about. Nothing gets decided until spring.

Across fourteen seasons: 24,084 yards from scrimmage, 358 touchdowns, 234 games. There was a 2,282-yard year in there. This is not it.

He is from Chicago, Illinois. He says almost nothing and is listened to anyway. The route here: cut twice before his twenty-fourth birthday.

Bighorns, 4-4-1, and ten weeks gone. Frank Furter is in year two of it. He is out of contract after this.

He never takes his helmet off between series, and always has.
