I have been doing this long enough to have written off men like Jaylen Hobbeson, who was cut twice before his twenty-fourth birthday. 219 yards is the league's way of saying nothing is settled. Two of them found the end zone, in game 6 of his season. The ones who arrive like this tend to know what it cost. That is usually worth something in December.
The ledger, after ten seasons: 11,661 yards, fifty-five scores. His best was 1,774. This is not that, yet. For two clubs.
He is thirty-one, out of Muddy Creek, Kentucky. He keeps his own counsel and his own hours.
