Rhett Waddle returns from the shoulder

Ruth Fairbanks, features

Rhett Waddle QB
Roughnecks

Rhett Waddle missed one game with a shoulder. He came back and put up 23.5 points.

The ledger, after twelve seasons: 27,599 yards, 406 scores. He got to 2,915 once. Not this time. For three clubs.

Thirty-three, and Sable, North Dakota before that. He would rather be almost anywhere else on a Tuesday. Nobody planned any of it. He was the younger brother of a player nobody in this league remembers. In another life he fixed diesel engines with his uncle.

The club is 5-0. Isaiah Ulmer is in year four of it. He is out of contract after this.

One more thing: he will not step on the painted logo at midfield.

This feature ran in the paper in week 5 of 1993. The rest of the season is there too.
