T. Nakamura finds it, in year 8

The Custodians

There is a version of T. Nakamura's life where none of this happens. He was the son of a man who played eleven years at the same position. Instead: 147 yards. He is the last man off the field, every week, without exception, which his teammates have stopped remarking on. It is a long way from Coalport, Alabama, and he did not come the easy way.

This story ran on the wire in week 10 of 1990. The rest of the season is in the paper.
