Pikemen lose Reuben Steele to an AC joint

Ruth Fairbanks, features

Reuben Steele WR
Pikemen

There is no good week for this. Reuben Steele gets the rest of the season on the shelf with an AC joint. It is the third time this season he has been on the report.

10,053 yards over nine seasons. Thirty-five touchdowns. 124 games. He got to 2,504 once. Not this time. He has done it in two buildings.

He turned thirty this year. He is from Cattaraugus Falls, New York. Ask anybody: he keeps his own counsel and his own hours. Nobody planned any of it. He was cut twice before his twenty-fourth birthday.

Pikemen, 0-1, and one weeks gone. Ambrose Winterbottom is in year two of it. He is out of contract after this.

Collects vinyl and is insufferable about it.

This feature ran in the paper in week 1 of 1988. The rest of the season is there too.
